Mindset: Why January is the right time to set your goals

Firstly, let us start off by wishing you all a very Happy New Year! We are excited to be sharing our blog with you this year as we had some great feedback from our posts last year.

Our first one today isn’t going to be music related but more of an insight into how we kick off our new year with business planning.

2017 was a great year for us and we were very lucky to achieve and experience the goals and opportunities that we did. Now that we are in 2018, it would be very easy to sit back and go with the flow and assume that those successes are going to continue and that the groundwork has been done so we can wait for the next opportunity to present itself.

So, we will take today off and wait. Maybe we will start goal setting next week or at the start of next month. After all, what’s another couple of weeks right? WRONG!

January 1st is the most important day to set your goals for the year ahead. It’s the first day of the year when everyone is chilled out, focusing on the year ahead and positive that they will have a fantastic year!

We both believe that mindset and goal setting is paramount to a successful business and January 1st has been proven as the best day to do this.

So here are our tips to help you to get into a January Mindset and make 2018 your most successful yet!

   1    Restructure and Refocus

We all need some R & R but the kind we are talking about is Restructure and Refocus.

Take a look at all the objectives and goals that you set last year and re-evaluate them. What did you achieve? What did you want to achieve but didn’t quite do? How can you do it better this year if it remains a goal? Do you need to learn something new to take that goal forward?

Asking yourself these type of questions and writing down the honest answers and then mapping your way to success is a great thing to do. You will be able to pull the positives from this and focus on your achievements whilst analysing the areas that you may need to focus on.

2) Don’t be the YES man!

There is a common quote ‘Just say yes and you’ll figure it out afterwards’

No you won’t!! We don’t believe this.

Saying Yes to every opportunity that presents itself may seem like you are being busy, it may seem like you are constantly out there being recognised as someone who gets all the luck or you simply may just feel that you cannot say No for fear of it actually becoming a missed opportunity.

When presented with this scenario ask yourself these questions:

  • Will it make me happy?
  • Will it enhance my life and/or my career?
  • Will it motivate me?
  • Do I believe in it?

If the answer is no, then don’t be afraid to say NO! One quote we agree with is “Don’t be a busy fool!”

3) Turn the invisible into the visible

This is a piece of advice that was given to Charlotte years ago and works really well.

How do you turn the invisible into the visible? Well, we have no special magic dust that will make that Porsche you’ve always wanted appear on your driveway but what is easily accessible are dream boards or goal boards.

Whatever is on your goals list, however big or small, print an image out of it or cut it out of a magazine and pin it to the board. Every day you will see the image of what you want to achieve. Every day that will subconsciously provide you with motivation. If you want it badly enough you will achieve it.

If you can see your goals then you are more likely to focus on them. Even if this isn’t something you think you want to do, at the very least make sure you write them down. Detail what your goal looks like, when you want to achieve it by, why you want it. It all provides focus and motivation and feels amazing when you reach it!

It doesn’t even have to be career goals.

If you want that 5 star holiday in Barbados, write it down. Grab a holiday brochure and cut the images out.

Whatever you want to achieve, whatever you want to materialise – make it happen! Believe in it, work for it and achieve it.

So there you have it, three simple but very effective tips that we use to focus, build and plan.

We are really excited to work with lots of talented artists this year and help people to develop. Our goals and objectives for this year have been set in motion and we can’t wait to see how we get there and what other opportunities come from the hard work that we are starting today.

Let us know what your goals for 2018 are and how you are going to reach them!

Lots of luck and happiness for the year ahead.
